Since I had put the adaptor and was still getting that error I checked the placement of the adaptor. I thought that would be the case. Quote: Its quite old. Is there an external drive (USB hard disk, thumb drive, bootable CD) hooked up? They aren't repairable (or at least they aren't worth the time and money of repairing) so the quick fix is a new hard disk.

If you have a second computer and an external dock or caddy - hook up that hard drive to the second laptop & try running a malware removal program, a hard
