I had considered the CMOS batt, but nothing really indicates that.

Ok i went out of town for a week came back got this error message on my pc saying internal hdd error!!! I have an error on my Dell Latitude D610 saying Internal HDD Hard Error, press f1 or f2. There has to be something in the bios telling the system that it has a hard drive.
